6 Best Chips Ahoy Flavors Ranked (2024)
Cookies dipped in milk continue to be one of my favourite snacks. I personally didn’t have much Chips Ahoy growing up as I used to get the gigantic Great Value bag that sadly no longer exists. However, I have always wanted to make a list of the best Chips Ahoy flavors as its one of the most popular cookie brands.
Chips Ahoy is owned by Mondelez international which probably owns half of the cookies and gum brands that you know. Look at this massive list of brands they own.
Let’s get into our task for today of getting the best chips ahoy flavors ranked!
Best Chips Ahoy Flavors
6. Chewy
Me: While I find the soft texture very addictive and makes me eat more easily, I didn’t find the taste as good as the original. It definitely tastes more artificial and it’s a bit too sweet sometimes.
It is also dense and not airy (I love dipping chocolate chips in milk and then eating it and this makes that impossible). Still not a bad chocolate but I find this a stepdown from the original. Score: 6.
Other Taster: If you like chewy cookies you will like this, but I personally like regular non chewy chocolates so this didn’t appeal to me. The taste is decent. Similar to the original but soft. Score: 5.

5. Soft Chunky
While we came to similar rankings for the Soft Chunky flavor, we had different things to say.
Me: I find this one tastes the same as the chewy one in terms of the artificial flavor but it is definitely a bigger chocolate (the chewy one is thinner and smaller compared to this). Again its not a bad chocolate, but I like the original more. Score: 6.
Other Taster: I like this one more, I don’t know why, likely because there is more chocolate so you feel the chocolate flavor is more pronounced than the chewy one. Score: 7.

4. Rainbow
The Rainbow flavor tasted pretty good. The problem is that the the coloring of the package makes it seem like it will be an explosion of flavor in your mouth. In reality, while it still tastes great, its not very different from the original.
It’s a bit sweeter than the original and the M&M like pieces are crunchy and taste like white chocolate.
Score: 6.5
3. Chunks
The Chunks flavor was almost the exact same as the original. The chocolate flavor is stronger since the chunks are bigger, although not substantially bigger. Still a solid cookie but again very similar to the original.

2. Original
The Original Chips Ahoy is a solid cookie with a good amount of chocolate chips. Its not too hard, but also not soft. The crunchiness is great. No complaints.

1. Trip Chocolate Chunks
If you like white chocolate, the mix between the white and normal chocolate is just perfect. It makes it lighter somehow. Not as heavy as the other chocolate ones.

Final Thoughts
Chips Ahoy has a solid Original flavor and doesn’t deviate much from it. The good part about this is that most of their chocolate chips taste good. The bad part is that all their chocolate chips taste very similar.
While I personally didn’t find the Chewy flavor to be one of the best Chips Ahoy flavors, I can definitely understand their appeal as they are really easy to eat and can be very addicting. Although anyone that enjoys dipping their cookies in milk will likely not prefer this one.
Overall, if you’re in the grocery store and you want to buy cookies and only one of these flavors is available, I would say go ahead and grab it. Just don’t let the colorful packaging fool you into thinking you will experience a flavor extravaganza.
