Best Jarritos Flavor

The Best Jarritos Flavor, 9 Bottles Ranked Worst to Best

I’m a really big fan of flavored soda. It’s a lot more interesting than regular soda and from time to time I’ve had some really amazing drinks. So it was really surprising that I had never heard of Jarritos until recently. Jarritos is a popular soda drink from Mexico with an impressive range of flavors. You’ll typically find them in Mexican restaurants and in the international isle in the grocery store. If you want to get every flavor though, you’ll have the best luck visiting a Mexican or Latino grocery store.

I think the wide range of colors alone deservers some recognition, and drinking from a glass bottle really beats drinking from a plastic one.
Jarritos also uses real sugar (raw cane sugar) which I didn’t realize was a thing until I looked into Coke and Pepsi and realized they use a weird combination of glucose fructose. Jarritos flavors are also made with natural flavors which is good, but it doesn’t actually mean what you think it does.

We both tried every flavor together and gave it a score out of 10 based on how accurate the flavor was and the overall impression.

9. Lime

Jarritos Lime Flavor

I love lime flavored anything, and was really looking forward to this one, but was let down pretty hard. I’m a big fan of the the citrusy aspect of lime and lemon drinks this one didn’t really get the lime flavor right and it was more of a general citrus flavor.

The flavor wasn’t really strong either so all you were left with was the fizzy and sugary taste. I would probably pass on this one.

Score: 3.5/10

8. Guava

Jarritos Guava Flavor

This is a very hard flavor to nail down in a soda drink. Guava is something I’m more used to seeing with milk, so hats off to them for incorporating this into a fizzy drink. However, even though the smell of Guava is pretty nice and strong, the flavor isn’t quite right and its also a bit weak. It actually taste pretty decent, but because the Guava flavor isn’t really there it didn’t get a higher score.

Score: 5/10

7. Fruit Punch

Jarritos Fruit Punch Flavor

We were heavily divided on this one. One of us really liked it and enjoyed the different fruit flavors. I personally thought it was way too artificial and there was a weird flavor lingering in the background that really ruined it for me.

Score: 5/10

6. Pineapple

Jarritos Pineapple Flavor

This one was okay, no bad flavors, but no strong good flavors either. The flavor was kind of weak, but overall it was okay. If they increase the pineapple flavor it will be really good.

Score: 5.5/10

5. Grapefruit

Jarritos Grapefruit Flavor

I will argue that this one should be called citrus punch, because there was definitely a lime flavor in there alongside the grapefruit. The lime flavor was pretty good as well, which makes me wonder why they couldn’t use this lime flavor in their lime soda. Good overall and works well with probably any food.

Score: 7/10

4. Mexican Cola

Jarritos Mexican Cola Flavor

This one was really weird, in a good way. It made me question what your typical cola flavor should taste like. Part of me liked the unique flavor but the other one was very confused, mostly because I’m really used to Coke and Pepsi. I feel like part of the problem is that it didn’t feel as sugary which might be because they are using real sugar instead of the glucose/fructose mix used in Pepsi and Coke.

Its an interesting take on cola and for people in Mexico this might be what normal cola tastes like, but for me it was different. I feel like if you start drinking this often you’ll get used to it and like it. I highly recommend you try this one out, it will mess with your taste buds, in a good way.

Score: 6/10

3. Tamarind

Jarritos Tamarind Flavor

I REALLY liked this one. The Tamarind flavor was incredibly on point which I was doubting pretty hard before drinking it. The smell and taste were perfect and if you drink Tamarind juice you will enjoy this one a lot. Its actually pretty incredible that they mimicked this flavor. I honestly didn’t think of Tamarind as a flavor you’d do for a soda drink, but this proved me wrong. Tamarind juice is pretty popular in the Middle East as well as in Asia.

Score: 7.5

2. Strawberry

Jarritos Strawberry Flavor

When you open the bottle and take a sniff, you are very tempted to think that it is going to taste pretty bad because the smell is pretty artificial. However, the taste is really good, its like eating a strawberry lollipop but you’re drinking that instead, and it’s a soda. The sweetness is perfect, and overall really good. Some people might not be into the taste as it doesn’t taste like real strawberries but this one is definitely worth giving a try. I would probably avoid drinking this with meats because it might be a pretty disgusting combination.

Score: 8/10

1. Mandarin

Jarritos Mandarin Flavor

I feel like Mandarin is a universally perfected flavor because no matter where I’ve had it, it is always really good. Either they all use the same base formula or it’s just really easy to mimic the Mandarin flavor. The Mandarin flavor was spot on, smell was spot on and nothing negative with this one. I will say I’ve had better mandarin sodas, but the difference is marginal. This one works with food as well, unlike strawberry, so it tops our list.
As a side note, this was a bit more carbonated than the other ones. Might have been a one-off thing though.

Score: 8.5/10

My final thoughts are that Mandarin and Grapefruit are pretty safe flavors that you can’t go wrong with. If you want something interesting try Tamarind or Strawberry. Mexican cola for a unique experience.
