Costco Kirkland Signature European Cookies Review
I decided to do this Costco Kirkland Signature European Cookies review because I needed a good sturdy organizer box. Just kidding…
My parents used to get this box a lot when I was younger and I thought I’d get it for the sake of nostalgia and make a review out of it. While it doesn’t taste as good as I remember, it was still pretty good overall.
Two of us tasted and wrote down our thoughts on each cookie and gave it a score. The score you see below for each cookie is the average of our scores.
Costco Kirkland Signature European Cookies Review
Chocolate Hazelnut Brownie
The chocolate tastes disgusting .. in the beginning .. then slowly becomes tolerable. Regardless, its pretty terrible. You can forget about the hazelnut part because it doesn’t exist. I am calling this the Disgusting Chocolate. I don’t understand the brownie part in the naming.
The other taster thought they were trying to mimic a dark chocolate flavor and did not like how crunchy the cookie was.
So after careful consideration, I will rename this the Disgusting Chocolate that is too crunchy.
Avoid.
Score: 2
Coconut Crunch
Given the name, I was quite unenthused to find absolutely no hint of coconut. No smell, no taste, nothing. This is a waste of calories.
The other taster thought it was too crunchy but with the right level of sweetness. They couldn’t really taste any chocolate. Of course, they were also disappointed with the lack of coconut (AKA the main ingredient).
Score: 2.5
Springtime Sensation
I don’t know where these people come up with their names. I mean, wouldn’t Falltime sensation make more sense with the leaf shape? Either way, they should definitely remove the word sensation. I tried looking for antonyms to desbrible how anti sensational this thing is but nothing quite captured it.
The chocolate on the back of the biscuit tastes a bit weird, but is also very light, and overall it just doesn’t taste good
The other taster mentioned that the cookies tasted old, and I agree.
They should add more chocolate with a stronger cocoa presence.
Score: 2.5
Artisan Crisp
I feel like the word Artisan has really lost its meaning these days. The biggest evidence of that is this “cookie”. It tastes bitter because I think they are using dark chocolate, but its not like they’re using high quality dark chocolate, so it just tasted bad. Definitely not Artisan. I do like the thin profile though, its really easy to it.
Funnily enough, the other taster thought it was too thin.
Score: 3.5
Chocolate Autumn Whisper
I finally agree with the naming of one of these cookies. If I were to make a suggestion though, I would remove autumn and just make it “Chocolate Whisper” to give the audience an accurate description of this cookie. The chocolate on this cookie is so weak, if it were talking to you, it’d be whispering.
Less biscuit, more chocolate. 4/10
The other taster liked this more than the springtime sensation because the cookie tasted better but it was still mediocre overall.
Score: 4
Speculoos Moment
Strange naming aside, I actually kinda liked this one. It reminded me of these gingerbread cookies I used to eat when I was younger. The cinnamon is too strong in my opinion but the creamy filling is nice.
It’s a strange taste so I guess the naming was pretty spot on. I hate the caramelized sugar cubes though. They don’t add much and are WAY too crunchy.
After I wrote the above by a day, as I was editing the pictures, I figured the naming out. “Spec” is for the sugar cubes lol.
Score: 4.5
Choco Harlequin
The biscuit tasted a bit burnt and I felt like it was a normal biscuit. I didn’t really get the butter shortbread vibes. The chocolate was a pretty solid amount but the taste was mediocre. It was enjoyable overall.
Score: 6
Sweetheart
The chocolate is nice, but the hazelnut flavor takes a bit to kick in. Its a good chocolate overall, but nothing notable.
The other taster thought the hazelnut chocolate mix was perfect. The only negative was the cookie tasting a bit burnt, which I didn’t taste.
Score: 7.25
Choco Leaf
Tastes good overall, sugar isn’t too much, and no complaints. Again, nothing special, but its definitely enjoyable. We’re starting to finally enjoy these cookies.
Score: 7.5
Blanc Sensation
THIS is what you call a sensation. The white chocolate tastes incredible. It melts in your mouth and the biscuit is nice and soft and is not an obstacle to the teeth. Nothing can be improved here. Perfection. I actually gave this an 11/10.
The other taster was not on the same page with this one. They thought it was mediocre.
Score: 8.5
Caramel Delight
Excellent naming. This is a really good biscuit. The caramel is light and not overpowering, its not too crunchy, and the sweetness level is great overall. If they added more chocolate it’d be a 10.
Score: 8.5
Noir Shell
This one is pretty nice, the pastry and chocolate combination is perfect and its not too sweet. Its crumbly and airy texture is beautiful. The chocolate is a big on the lighter side but the overall taste is solid.
Score: 8.5
Mocha Milk
Solid naming again. Nice mocha flavor and good taste, even for someone like myself that doesn’t drink coffee. The ratio of biscuit to chocolate is perfect here.
Score: 8.5
Choco Crisp
Its a chocolatey, crispy wafer with a strong, mouth watering milk chocolate on the top. The cream filling is a great touch. Nice and airy and did I mention crispy?
Score: 9
Starlight
This was my favourite. Definitely the star of the show. The chocolate is excellent and the flavor is rich. I do hate that they are stingy with the amount of chocolate they put. PLEASE PUT MORE *$%*^# CHOCHOLATE. Also, less biscuit and more ****** chocolate.

Final Verdict
Having tasted a bunch of other Euro/Belgian cookies from various brands, this one comes out on top. Not only is it better quality, but better price.
While I do have my grievances with some of the cookies (5 to be exact) I think the good ones definitely make up for the majority of the terrible terrible ones (nothing can make up for the Discusting Chocolate Brownie).
The only thing that sucks is that these used to go for like half the price 10 years ago. If I remember correctly they also used to have more interesting varieties. I think they used to have wafer rolls that were really good.
